People will come and go from our lives often. It’s never easy to realize you are in a troubled relationship, but if you expect to fix it there are some things you need to think about. Here are a few ways you can work in saving a relationship.
Assess the Relationship
One of the hardest parts of dealing with a troubled relationship is deciding if it’s worth fixing. Some flaws are fatal when it comes to love. Can you overcome the issues of the past? What will it take to start fresh? These are hard questions, but necessary ones.
Find the Problem
Can you pinpoint the problem? If you can, then the relationship is likely salvageable. Both parties need to be a part of this process to ensure everyone is on the same page. You may want to take a few days apart to come up with a list of the things that need to be fixed.
Fix the Problem
Once the problems are pinpointed you both need to figure out if they can be fixed. If part of the problem is also a core part of who you are, then it’s not going to be worthwhile to try to fix it. If both people are willing to make changes however, it can work itself out.
Work on Communication
One of the kisses of death for a relationship is lack of communication. This needs to be worked on if you expect the relationship to work in the future. Make it a point to have regular discussions on where you stand. This will eliminate huge fights and irresolvable problems later.
